Liposuction For Men

Gone are the days when cosmetic surgery was just for women. Nowadays, men are knocking on plastic surgeons' doors just as frequently as women are.

Men are now realising that they too can benefit from the age-erasing, body-sculpting effects of cosmetic procedures available today.

Traditionally, women were the ones who had more choices to make about how they look. Now, men are claiming that right of choice as well.

One reason for this shift is the intense competition in the business world. There is often a perception, correct or not, that an older person is less up-to-date and less efficient when it comes to getting the job done. In an effort to remain younger-looking, many men have turned to cosmetic surgery.

The introduction of Vaser liposuction has transformed body sculpting for men. Because only tiny incisions are used, these are often easily concealed or difficult to see.


Although almost any area of the body can be suitable for lipo, the most popular areas for men are the neck, abdomen and flanks (love handles). Vaser Lipo is the main tool of choice for reduction of gynecomastia ( breasts in men).

Women have a different distribution of fat on their bodies than men. Women tend to have more fat than men do and it is found mainly in the hips, buttocks and upper thighs.

Men tend to have more fat in the abdomen and the back of the neck.
As men grow older the fat tends to locate more centrally. This causes the infamous "spare tire". The fat also goes internally and lies inside the abdomen.

What Happens During Vaser Lipo?

After a thorough check-up and discussion, your surgeon will numb up the treatment area. You are comfortable and awake throughout the body contouring procedure.

A very fine cannula is put under your skin to deliver the ultrasonic energy to the fat layer. This breaks up fat while leaving the surrounding tissues - such as nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue - relatively intact. Then the fat residue is aspirated (suctioned) from your body.

The neck is suctioned through a small incision under the chin and/or behind the ear. The pad of fat beneath the chin can be removed and there’s the added benefit of tightening of the skin.

Safe, Fast Procedure with a Minimal Recovery Period

No hospitalisation is required, there are no major side effects, and recovery is very fast. You can even return to work the day after your treatment if you wish! However you should avoid sports or strenuous exercise for a few days, gradually building up to your previous levels over the following week.

Am I suitable for Vaser Lipouction?

You should have realistic expectations about the procedure’s capabilities. This is for reduction of fatty pockets, it is not a weight reduction procedure, and it is not for the very overweight. While the abdomen is the most common procedure, this will not remove a 'beer gut'. With a beer gut, most of th fat is internal (around the organs), and can't be treated by liposuction.

Before you make a decision, think carefully about your expectations and discuss them fully during your detailed assessment visit (see the bottom of this page). You won't be suitable if you have certain medical conditions such insulin dependent diabetes.

What if I’m not suitable for this procedure?

When you come to us, you will receive a thorough assessment, and if we feel that for any reason you are not suitable for this procedure, you will not receive it. This may not be what you want to hear, but we would never take on any one for treatment knowing we wouldn't get a satisfactory outcome for you.
